CORA MAY SELLERS
Cora May Sims, daughter of Augustus and Mary Sims, was born near Russell, Iowa, on April 5, 1895, and passed away quietly at her home near Goodell, Iowa, Dec. 16, 1951, at the age of 56 years, 8 months and 11 days. She grew to womanhood in the vicinity of her birth. In her early life she attended the services of the Trinity Evangelical church, southeast of Russell. It was there that she accepted Christ as her Saviour and was baptized, placing her membership in that church. She took an active part in the church and Sunday school, serving as an organist, and as Sunday school teacher.
On Aug 22, 1917, she was united in marriage to Everett Sellers. Their early years of married life were spent on farms in Monroe and Lucas counties. In the spring of 1930, Mr. and Mrs. Sellers, with their family, moved to Goodell, Iowa, and since then had lived on farms in that vicinity. She was the mother of seven children, one of whom, Herbert, passed away in 1924 at the age of nine months. She was also preceded in death by her father in 1949. She leaves to mourn her passing, her husband and six children. They are Capt. Virgil E. Sellers, stationed with the U.S. Army at Vance Air Base, Enid, Okla.; Donald Sellers, who is engaged in farming near Thornton, Iowa, Sgt. Burdette Sellers, stationed with the U.S. Army at Trieste, Italy; Corporal Robert Sellers, stationed with the U.S. Army at Camp Gordon, Ga.; Mrs. Bernard Nolte (Mary) of Goodell; and Carl Sellers, at home, a student in the Kanawha high school; also five grandchildren, her mother, Mrs. Mary Sims of Russell, a sister, Mrs. Claude Husted of Clarion, Iowa, besides a host of relatives and good friends who sincerely mourn her passing.
Funeral services were held in the Russell Baptist church, Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. A. E. Beals, assisted by the Rev. Donald Brong. Interment was made in the Russell cemetery [Russell, Iowa].
