Donald Lee Sporaa, the son of Carl and Laura (Bergefer) Sporaa was born May 4, 1949, in Hampton, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Dows and Clarion, graduating from Clarion High School in 1968. He entered the United States Army on January 29, 1969 serving during the Vietnam War until March 27, 1975. On January 28, 1983, Donald married Carolyn Jacobson in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove, Clarion and moved to Kanawha in 1992. Donald worked as a welder for many years and had to retire due to his health in 2002. Donald was a "die-hard" Washington Redskins fan and enjoyed the families many camping trips.

Donald passed away on Thursday, December 18, 2014, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 65 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Charles, step-daughters, Tracy and Stacy Arne and granddaughter, Amanda Lalor. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sporaa of Kanawha; sons, Donavon Lalor and wife Mallory of Eagle Grove, Shain Arne of Eagle Grove and Corey Sporaa and wife Shelle of Eagle Grove; daughter, Lora Andrews of Kanawha; eleven grandchildren: Kayla Lalor, Nathan Anderson, Dawson Lalor, Emma Lalor, Piper Lalor, Andrew Arne, Isabelle Arne, Tasha Hill, Quentin Hill, Dylan Sporaa and Kadence Andrews; two great-granddaughters, Alecia and Sophia Hill; two brothers, Larry Sporaa of Clarion and Denny Sporaa of Clarion and two nephews. Visitation will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
