Marion Loretta Chambers, 89, passed away Thursday December 4, 2014 at the Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Funeral services for Marion Loretta Chambers will be held at 10:30 A.M. Monday December 8, 2014 at the Presbyterian Church in Dows. Pastor Shawn Hill will officiate. Burial will take place in the Fairview Cemetery in Dows. Visitation for Marion Loretta Chambers will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 P.M. Sunday December 7, 2014 at the Presbyterian Church in Dows and will continue for one hour prior to services there on Monday. Dugger Funeral Home, 100 North Lee Street in Dows is in charge of arrangements.

Loretta was born September 1, 1925 to John and Charlotte Reinke Wirtz in Belmond. She grew up in the Dows area where she attended country school. She graduated from Dows High School in 1943. Loretta married Harlan Dale Chambers on March 23, 1946 in Dows. Four children were born to this union Carol, William, Steven and Donald. They lived in Dows where Loretta worked at various jobs in Dows, a telephone operator, cleaned houses and babysat. She worked at Morton’s Pies in Webster City for a time. Loretta worked for two different Veterinarians in Dows for 15 years. Loretta, finally, worked at Casey’s General Store in Dows where she was endeared by numerous patrons.

Loretta is survived by her daughter Carol (John) Johnson of Brooklyn MN, her sons William (Barb) Chambers of Dows, Steven (Connie) Chambers of Galt, Donald (Donna) Chambers of Eagle Grove, ten grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, brother, Elmer (Audrey) Wirtz of Dows, sister Elsie (Darwin) Lekwa of Ames, sister-in-law Phyllis Wirtz of Hampton and brother-in-law Raymond (Clarice) Chambers of Lacona. and numerous other niece, nephews, relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Harlan in 1993, great grandma Gabriella Cotton, two brothers Raymond and Art, and two sisters, Irene and Florence.
