AGENCY, Iowa - Cheryll Kay Kayser, 78, of Agency, died at 1:22 p.m. November 25, 2014 at the Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa. She was born July 9, 1936 in Dows, IA to J.Mac and Marjorie Courtney Thomas. She married George O. Kayser Jr. on October 11, 1958 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hampton, IA. He preceded her in death on November 27, 2007. A 1954 graduate of Hampton High School, Cheryll earned a teaching certificate from Ellsworth College in Iowa Falls. She taught in Beaman, IA, and was a substitute teacher at Cardinal, Fairfield, Bloomfield and Ottumwa schools. Cheryll enjoyed sewing, baking, cooking and gardening. She was a member of Bosom Buddies and was involved with the Cardinal PTSA.

Surviving are her children, Mark Kayser, Mike (Kelly) Kayser and Matt (Lori) Kayser all of Agency; a daughter, Karen (Wayne) Stevens of Davenport; 8 grandchildren, Ashley Kayser, Brock (Katie) Stover, Michelle (Jordan) Edwards, Kelsey (Ryan) Andersen, Beverly (Ricky Cash, Trevor (fiancée Molly) Kayser, Andrea (Tyler) Meier, Christopher Stevens; 5 great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda (Joe) Jerome of Ft. Dodge; a brother-in-law, Richard Harty of Mason City and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Patricia Harty; a sister and brother-in-law, Jane and Dan Simon; and a step-father, Fred “Fritz” Grabbe.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Father Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in the Agency Cemetery. Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Friday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cardinal A Club or the Agency Lions Club.
