November 17, 1884 --- September 21, 1962

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. September 24 from the Methodist church for Mrs. John Eisenhauer, 78, of Pocahontas, who died at 5 a.m. September 21 at Buena Vista county hospital, Storm Lake, where she had been a patient for four weeks. Burial was in Summit Hill cemetery. Rev. E. C. Boulton officiated. Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. Rebekah lodge services were held at the Powers Funeral Home.

Surviving Mrs. Eisenhauer are her husband; a son, Thomas of Newell; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Olga Brunstetter of Alva, Okla., and Mrs. H. H. Winegarden of Pocahontas. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.

Formerly Grace Almira Eaton, she was born November 17, 1884, in Wright county near Renwick and was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Eaton. She came with her parents to Pocahontas as a young girl. She taught school in Pocahontas county for 13 years and served as deputy Pocahontas county superintendent of schools under Mrs. J. H. McMichael for years. Her marriage to John G. Eisenhauer took place at Hawarden on Feb. 18, 1923. They farmed 4 miles south of Pocahontas until retiring into town. Mrs. Eisenhauer was a member of the Methodist church and its WSCS and of the Rebekah lodge.
