Dwight Kalash, 75, St. Cloud

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Atonement Lutheran Church for Dwight E. Kalash, 75, 811-27th Ave. N, who died Wednesday at his home. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Benson Funeral Home and an hour before services Saturday at the church in St. Cloud.

Dwight Kalash was born in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to George and Lois (Beam) Kalash. He grew up in Lakefield. He was an intercept operator for the 3892 Signal Corps in Europe during World War II. He married Alice Rubis on June 20, 1948, in Lakefield. They moved to St. Cloud in 1951 where he graduated from St. Cloud State College. He was employed by Weber Jewelry and Music for many years. He worked for Mac's Music before being employed by the United States Post Office, St. Cloud, from which he retired in 1988. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church, Central Minnesota Wood Carver's Association, Ducks Unlimited and American Postal Workers Union. Survivors include his wife; daughters, Celia Carr of St. Cloud, Kathryn McAlister of Vista, Calif., and Diane Dols of Prior Lake; brother, Dean of Caledonia; and two grandsons.He was preceded in death by his brothers, Darrell and G. Duane. Memorials are preferred to ALS Association Minnesota Chapter, Atonement Lutheran Church or American Cancer Society.
