Dwight James Collicott was born December 24, 1938, to Gail and Evelyn Clark Collicott at Lake City, Iowa. He attended schools at Lohrville and Eagle Grove before graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1957. He then attended Eagle Grove Junior College and Parsons College in Fairfield from which he graduated in 1961. On August 24, 1963, he was united in marriage to Linda Hibbard at Cartilage, Ill. He taught science and physical education for 7 years in Aurora, Ill., and 11 years in Eagle Grove. He worked for Eagleson Insurance Agency and was currently self-employed as an insurance adjuster. He was also a past coach at Eagle Grove and Goldfield where he look 7 teams to the State Golf Tournament, and coached basketball at Eagle Grove. He was also an Official for basketball and volleyball, and was a member of the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, the Iowa Boys High School Athletic Association, a life member of the National Education Association, and the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. He was also a member of the Eagle Grove Junior College basketball team that played in the National Tournament where he was named a Junior College All-American. He was a coach for Tee Ball, Little League, and summer golf camp.

Dwight James Collicott died Monday, December 1, 1997, at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge from injuries suffered in an automobile accident at the age of 58. Survivors include his wife, Linda, Eagle Grove; two daughters, Tami Trotter and husband, Brett, Indianola, and Teri Newcomb and husband, Chris, Des Moines; two sons, Curt Collicott, Eagle Grove, and Christian Collicott, Eagle Grove; mother, Evelyn Collicott, Eagle Grove; sister, Kay Collicott of Eagle Grove; three grandchildren, Benjamin, Bailey, and Jacob; and one aunt, Dolly Clark, Eagle Grove. He was preceded in death by his father in 1983.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 5, 1997, at 10:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend Wayne Droessler officiating. Burial was in Calvary Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
