Alfred Johnson died at age 85
Had lived in Hawarden many years; Came to America 65 years ago. Wed at Hudson in 1889

Alfred Johnson 85, who for many years lived in Hawarden, died last Thursday at Bothell, Wash. Mr. Johnson moved to Bothell about 15 years ago. After the death of his wife he made his home with Carman Johnson and family. He had been in poor health for some time. His daughter, Mrs. Doris Doty of Rock Rapids, went to Bothell several weeks preceding his death. Funeral services and burial were at Bothell.

Mr. Johnson was employed by the North Western Railroad company for more than 42 years. He retired in 1930. He worked as a fireman and for a number of years lived at Eagle Grove. Later he worked as hostler in the round house in Hawarden.

Alfred Johnson was born in Sweden, coming to America when 20 years old. He was married to Miss Hulda Malmstrom at Eden, now Hudson. March 3, 1889. His wife died several years ago. He is survived by six children, Mrs. Gladys Inman of Deer Lodge, Mont.; Clarence Johnson of Portland, Ore.; Isadora Johnson of Akron, Ohio; Mrs. Bea Jones of Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Doris Doty of Rock Rapids, and Carman Johnson of Bothell, Wash. He was an uncle of E. A. and 0. A. Johnson of Hawarden.
