March 1, 1872 --- April 25, 1959

Mrs. Mark Kelly and Neil Hanifan joined other relatives at Livermore and attended the funeral services for Hugh Murphy, age 86, held at Mankato, Minn., Monday, April 27. Burial was at Mt. Calvary Cemetery at Livermore. Mr. Murphy was an uncle of Mrs. Kelly and Mr. Hanifan.

Hugh Murphy, brother of Mrs. Alice Hanifan of Livermore, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed Coughlin at Mankato, MN, April 25, 1959. He had made his home with the Coughlins since the death of his wife in 1950. Mr. Murphy was born in 1872 on his father homestead northwest of Hardy. He received his schooling at rural schools in Humboldt township. In 1896 he was married to Miss Mary Hanifan at Sacred Heart church in Livermore by Father Michael McNerney. He farmed near Emmetsburg and Livermore until 1914 when the family moved to Minnesota, where he resided until his death. He is survived by daughter, Mrs. Ed Coughlin and Mrs. James Cunningham, one son, Sylvester, all of Mankato; two sisters, Mrs Elizabeth Hanifan of Fairmont, MN and Mrs. Alice Hanifan of Livermore; 10 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, 3 sons, and one daughter. His son Irvin and daughter Eleanor both died within the past year. Funeral services were held at St. John Catholic church in Mankato Monday morning. Burial was in the family lot at Mt. Calvary cemetery at Livermore.
