Henry Meyer dies at 69; Rites at Belmond

BELMOND - Henry H. Meyer, 69, died Saturday at his home here. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church with the Rev. Harry McKinney officiating. Burial will be in Belmond Cemetery with Fulton Funeral Home in charge. Born at Steamboat Rock in 1893, he was the son of Harm T. and Helen Meyer. He was married to Florence Gerdes, Dec. 3, 1914, and worked as a railroad foreman at Titonka and Be1mond.

Surviving are his wife, 14 children, Mrs. William (Helen) Meyers, Lakota; Mrs. Frank (Gertrude) Pruisman, Mrs. Ronald (Ruth) Steenblock and Harm, Belmond; Mrs. Murland (Geraldine) Steenblock, Arcata, Calif.; Henry F., at home; Mrs. John (Amy) Just, Belmond; Mrs. Orville (Ida Mae) Boyd, Jewell; Andrew, Bothell, Wash.; Anthony and Merle, Belmond; Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Kvale, Lake Mills; Mrs. Dennis (Thelma) Pals, Meservey; Mrs. Gordon (Ardis) Quandt, Seattle, Wash.; Allen, Belmond; and Larry Kramer, who was reared by them. There are 48 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, four brothers, Harm, Fred, Jake, Charlie, and four sisters; Ella, Tena Karstens, Grace Swyter and Anna Harms.

Former Resident Died at Belmond

Funeral services for Henry H. Meyer, 69, were held Tuesday afternoon, May 1 at the Methodist Church at Belmond. The deceased was a former Buffalo Center resident and married Florence Gerdes of Buffalo Center on December 3, 1914. He had been employed by the Rock Island Railroad Company for the past 44 years. Burial was in the Belmond cemetery. He is survived by his wife and 14 children. Those from Buffalo Center who attended the services were Bennie, Jerry and Ted Gerdes, Menno Risius, Jake Risius and Mr. and Mrs. Ubbe Winter.
