Armstrong Woman’s Rites Held in Swea City

Armstrong – Mrs. Jennie McGregor, 87, rural Armstrong died early Friday June 14 in Fairmont Community Hospital. Funeral Services were held at 2 pm today in United Methodist Church, Swea City with the Rev. WM Bloodworth officiating. Interment was in Armstrong Grove Cemetery, Armstrong, IA. Serving as pallbearers were Duane McGregor, Richard DeVary, Virgil Gardner, Roger McGregor, James Lee McGregor, and Donald Carlson. Reese- Henry Funeral Home, Swea city, was in charge of arrangements.

Jennie was born Dec. 4, 1886 at Goldfield to Christian and Melvina Madison Christensen. She was educated in Kossuth County schools and was married to James Henry McGregor April 2, 1908 in her parent’s farm home. After marriage, she and her husband farmed in Emmet and Kossuth County. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Swea City. Survivors include four sons, Francis McGregor, Bancroft; Glen McGregor, Armstrong; Forest McGregor, Bancroft; and James McGregor, Estherville; three daughters: Mrs. Lucille DeVary, Dolliver; Mrs. Raymond (Grace) Gardner, Bancroft, Mrs. C. M. (Margaret) Carlson, Armstrong; 16 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; two brothers Roy Christensen of Luverne, Minn. and Forrest Christensen, Fullerton, Calif.; one sister Mrs. Minnie Jensen, Bancroft. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband three grandchildren, four sisters and one brother.
