Ed Blankenship Died Today

Ed Blankenship, 81, longtime resident of Webster City, died at 1:15 a.m. today at the Hamilton county hospital following a short illness. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster funeral home with the Rev. Robert Shaw officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

William Edward Blankenship, son of John and Catherine Blankenship, was born July 10, 1880, on a farm near Mulberry Grove, Ill. He was reared and educated in the community. In 1901, he moved with his parents to Iowa, locating on a farm in the Wall Lake area near Clarion. The family later moved to a farm near Blairsburg. He was united in marriage to Hattie Haddox, and with the exception of a few years spent in Texas, they had always made their home in the Webster City - Blairsburg vicinity.

He is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Katrina Willhour, Des Moines, Mrs. Arnold (Louise) Holdgrafer of Austinville, Iowa, Mrs. Omer (Audrey) Roe, Jewell, John Blankenship, Eagle Grove, Rex Blankenship of Muskogee, Okla.; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; two brothers and one sister; Tom Blankenship, of Olatha, Colo., John Blankenship of Blairsburg, and Miss Dona Blankenship, also of Blairsburg. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; two brothers and two grandchildren. Mr. Blankenship was a member of the First Baptist church in Webster City.
