Loren A. Bamford, age 101, of Belmond, passed away Friday October 24, 2014 at Rehabilitation Center of Belmond. Funeral services for Loren A. Bamford will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond. Pastor Alan Schulz will officiate. Burial will take place in the Belmond Cemetery. Visitation for Loren A. Bamford will be held from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the church on Tuesday. Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick’s Lane South in Belmond, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Belmond Historical Museum, Trinity Lutheran Church in Belmond, Belmond Ambulance, Belmond Care Car or to the donor's choice.

Loren Andrew, the son of Percy J. and Emma Mathilda Hanson Bamford, was born north of Belmond. He grew up in the Belmond area where he attended school. Loren graduated from Belmond High School in 1929. Loren then began his life-long passion of farming. His equipment always had to be John Deere. He raised Black Angus cattle, horses and Shetland ponies. On March 21, 1942, he married Lirlene Oppedal, and the couple farmed and raised their family on the land north of Belmond, residing there until they moved into town in 1999. Loren was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was a lifelong Democrat and served on the Election Board for many years.

Surviving Loren, grateful for the joy he gave them, daughters, Janice Crawford of Belmond, Merry Heilmann and her husband, Steve, of Afton, Minn.; son, Paul of Belmond, his Brazilian "son," Paulo Canineu and his wife, Maria, and their family; 10 grandchildren, Jeffrey Crawford and Lona, Marc Crawford and his wife, Carolyn, Matthew Crawford and his wife, Brandy, Ann Campbell, Jonathan Heilmann and wife, Kim, Scott Heilmann, Katherine Heilmann, Leslie, Inga, and Siobhan Bamford; ten great-grandchildren, Madison, Abbi, Livi, Carson, Lauren, Andrew, Jack, Rachel, Joshua, Emily; four nieces, Carolyn, Betty, Sharon, Dixie; and numerous other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife of 61 yrs, Lirlene in 2003; and siblings, Lola, Carroll, Grace and Leota. Dugger Funeral Homes.
