Lloyd Abrams Jr., 84, of Mason City, died Friday, February 7 2014 at the Good Shepherd Health Center. Funeral services will be held 1:30 pm Monday, February 10, 2014 in the Good Shepherd Health Center Chapel, 302 2nd Street NE with Rev. Kent Mechler officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Avenue. Memorials may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Lloyd was born June 30, 1929 in Chapin, Iowa the son of Lloyd Eugene and Mabel Mildred (Andrews) Abrams. He graduated from Chapin consolidated school then attended Hamilton Business College. Lloyd served with the US Army during the Korean War. He married Marcia Mae Rasmussen December 20, 1953 in Clarion, Iowa. Lloyd worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad for 37 ½ years as a railroad agent/telegrapher. He retired July 1, 1989. He then worked part-time for Huffman Transportation and the Mason City Community Schools System as a bus driver. Some of his hobbies included fishing, reading, photography, and spending time with his grandsons. Lloyd also attended St. James Lutheran Church and was a life-time member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the National Association of Retired & Veteran Railway Employees Inc.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Marcia Mae Abrams of Mason City; one son, Jeffry (Kim) Abrams of Cedar Rapids; two daughters, Mildred Belle (Randy) Carolus of Mason City, and Mary Kay Abrams (Eric Hansen) of New York, New York; three grandchildren, Micheal and Shawn Abrams, and Raul Carolus; five great grandchildren; one sister, Bonnie Davis of Liscomb, Iowa; several nieces and nephews. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Ryan Abrams; two brothers, Donald and Michael. Arrangements: Major Erickson Funeral Home & Crematory - Mason City, Iowa.
