December 31, 1839 --- February 11, 1900

The death of Michael Rettig occurred Sunday, Feb. 11th, 1900. He was born in Germany, Dec. 31st, 1839 and came to America since his marriage. He has, since his fourteenth year, been a follower of Christ and a member of the Lutheran church. His death came suddenly and resulted from a carbuncle on his back. It was not considered serious and a physician was not summoned until too late. He leaves a wife and four children. Funeral services were held in the M. E. church, conducted by the Lutheran pastor, Rev. Bellow. The remains were interred in the Vernon cemetery.
