MRS. HENRY BOGE FUNERAL HELD LAST SUNDAY
Mrs. Henry Boge, the former Catherine Agnes Rettig, was the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth Retting. She was born in Hessendarmstat, Germany on November 22, 1869. When she was about eleven years old she came to America with her parents, settling first in Illinois for one year, moving from there to Jasper County, Iowa and later to a farm south of Renwick. She has lived in this community ever since. She was married to Henry Boge in January, 1894. They were the parents of five children, one of whom died in infancy. Another, Herman, died at nineteen years of age, and another, Lucy, (Mrs. Emil Gillman) died last year. Her husband preceded her in death in 1946. Also preceding her in death were her parents and three sisters and brothers. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wm. Helmke, Renwick, and Mrs. A. G. Helmke, Livermore; two sisters, Mrs. R. R. Pietz, Revere, Minn., and Mrs. George Klassie, Westbrook, Minnesota; ten grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
She received the Sacrement of Holy Baptism in her infancy and confessed her Christian faith when she was confirmed in her youth. She was an active member of St. Paul's Lutheran church at Renwick for many years, giving evidence of her faith by receiving the Lord's Supper frequently. She was a charter member of the Ladies Aid. In her last years she gained much comfort from singing many Christian hymns she knew by memory.
She was in good health until her death at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. G. Helmke, at Livermore on Thursday, Sept. 21 at the age of 80 years and 10 months. May she now have the lasting joys that are in the kingdom to come. Funeral services were held Sunday, Sept. 24, at 1:30 at the Wm. Helmke home and at two o'clock at St. Paul's Lutheran Church with the Rev. R. E. Langholz officiating. Her earthly remains were laid to rest in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield, Iowa.
Mrs. Otto Swanson and Donna Hefty sang the hymns. Pallbearers were Norman Helmke, Jerry Helmke, Marvin Helmke, Bernard Helmke, all grandsons of the deceased, and Frank Moeding and Melvin Klassie, nephews.
