Clarence E. Hiveley, 88, of Fort Dodge, went home to be with the Lord Friday, September 12, 2014, at Van Diest Medical Center in Webster City. Services will be 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, at First Covenant Church with Pastor Allen Redenius officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by V.F.W. Post No. 1856 and the United States Navy Honor Guard. The visitation is 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at First Covenant Church. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Clarence is survived by his wife Geneva; his children, Kathy (Kenny) Powell, Fort Dodge; Jerel Hiveley; and Rosanne (Rod) Toro, St. Louis, Missouri; 14 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Lawrence.

Clarence Elmer Hiveley, the son of Wesley and Blanche (Harris) Hiveley, was born February 25, 1926, on a farm near Vincent. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the USS Massachusetts. On November 2, 1946, Clarence was united in marriage to Geneva Lambert at the Little Brown Church in the Vale. They were married for 68 years. Clarence was a well known building contractor in Fort Dodge for 65 years. Clarence was a long time active member of First Covenant Church where he served in many offices. Clarence enjoyed work and especially treasured time spent with his family.
