Catherine Ferry Sherman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Ferry was born September 15, 1867, at Bethany, Illinois. She grew to womanhood there. She was married to John Sherman of Lake City, Ill., in the year of 1892. To this union were born two children, Anna Sherman Reedy of Hammond, Ill., and Kathryn Sherman Anderson of Goldfield, Iowa, with whom the mother had lived for a period of 28 years. Her husband passed away Nov. 16, 1912. Up to that time they had lived on a farm southeast of Goldfield. The deceased and her husband were members of the Sacred Heart Catholic church of Eagle Grove, Iowa. After a short illness she passed away Feb. 11, 1948, and her remains were laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery at Eagle Grove, Iowa, on Feb. 14, 1948. She leaves to mourn her passing the two daughter and two granddaughters, Mildred Reedy and Mrs. Lynden Adams of Hammond, Ill. She will be missed by a host of friends. The pallbearers for the service were: Andrew Anderson, Olaf Anderson, Hans Sorenson, Alvin Kelling, Floyd Kubly, Mervin Axon.

Mrs. John Sherman Dies at Goldfield

Mrs. John Sherman, 80, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Anderson early Wednesday morning at 1:30 when she suffered a heart attack. The funeral was held Saturday at 10 o'clock at the Sacred Heart church in Eagle Grove. She was buried at the Catholic cemetery in Eagle Grove. Mrs. Sherman had lived in this vicinity for nearly a half century. Her husband preceded her in death. She is survived by Mrs. Michael Reedy of La Place, Ill. and Mrs. Harry Anderson of Goldfield, her two daughters.
