January 16, 1845 --- February 10, 1907

William Henry Bell was born near Decatur, Illinois, January 16, 1845, and died February 10, 1907, of heart failure caused by a severe attack of la grippe. In 1850 he came to Delaware county with his mother and later located at Union, Hardin county. In 1871 he was united in marriage to Miss Susan Miles who died in 1884. In the summer of 1885 he moved to Omaha, Neb., and the following January was married to Nellie Beatrice Richardson of Webster City, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Richardson. In 1888 he came to Renwick where he has resided since. Of the immediate family, his wife and three children, Fred, Vera and George and four sisters survive to mourn his loss. In early life he gave his heart to Christ and united with the Congregational church at Union, Ia., and later identified himself with the M. E. church at Renwick.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the M. E. church conducted by Rev. Poppenheimer and the remains were laid to rest in the Luni cemetery. Mr. Bell was too well and favorably known, both personally and in a business way to need extended mention in the columns of the Times. He carried his religion into his home and into his relations with his fellow men. His familiar figure will be missed in many ways and places. The best heritage he could leave his family and friends was the record of "a life well spent."
