Jesse Banks, a brakeman on the C. & N. W. line, was seriously injured at Sioux Rapids Feb. 2nd, while setting a brake on a flat car. A string of cars was being switched to a train with the air set, and when the cars came together the impact was so great that the flat car gave way. Banks was thrown down between the end of the flat car and a box car, and was badly cut about the groin. The injured man was taken to Eagle Grove to the emergency ward, and is being cared for by the company's surgeon.

Brakeman Dies From Injuries
Jesse Banks, a brakeman on the C & N. W. railroad who was caught between two cars and badly crushed while switching in the yards in Sioux Rapids about four weeks ago, died in the Eagle Grove hospital Feb. 28th. He was a soldier during the world war, having enlisted early in the war. He was a married man.Hawarden Independent - Hawarden, Iowa
