Dale Eugene Abbott, 78, of Council Bluffs died Jan. 2 [2004] in Council Bluffs. He was born June 14, 1925 [in Woolstock, Iowa]. Mr. Abbott served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1946. On Dec. 19, 1945, Dale married Davia Lee Johnson of Knoxville, Ill. The couple lived in the Fort Dodge area until they moved to Council Bluffs in the fall of 2000.
Mr. Abbott was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1856 of Fort Dodge, the American Legion Rainbow Post No. 2 of Council Bluffs, and the First Presbyterian Church in Fort Dodge. He was an avid gardener, fisherman, and hunter who loved nature, his country and his family.
He was preceded in death by parents, Nathan and Lora Abbott; brother, Chester "Bus" Abbott; sister, Helen Zenor. He is survived by his wife, Davia "Debbie"; children, Kathleen "Kate" Jobe of Council Bluffs, Timothy and his wife Kristi (Rosales) of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Kristie Abbott of Plymouth, Neb.; Martha Abbott-Magnuson and husband, Roy Magnuson of Council Bluffs; two grandsons; two granddaughters; three great-granddaughters; two step-great-granddaughters; sisters, Daisy Kiewit of Buffalo Center and Ruth Johnson of Vincent and June Algoe of Fort Dodge.
