Sadie "Irene" Dobbins, 68, of Rock Island, Illinois, died on Saturday morning, September 13, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. A celebration of Irene's life will be held at 11 A.M., Wednesday, September 17, 2014, at the Heritage Wesleyan Church in Rock Island, Illinois. A private entombment will be held at the Greenview Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, Rock Island, Illinois.
Sadie Irene Wininger was born on July 1, 1946 in Oolitic, Indiana to Edwin and Sadie (Redling) Wininger. She grew up in Clarion, Iowa and graduated from Clarion High School in 1964. Irene's husband Daniel W. "Pat" Dobbins preceded her in death on August 18, 2008.
Irene became involved in managing properties while married to Pat and was an active member of the Heritage Wesleyan Church in Rock Island. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking, dancing, and spending time with her family and friends. Her strong faith and uncomplaining nature were two of her most endearing qualities.
Those left to honor her memory include her children, James "Brent" (Iris) Boehnke of Oceanside, CA, and Lisa (Steven) Pienta of Charlotte, NC; 5 grandchildren Krystin, Alexander, Kirstie, Nicholas and Tyler; brothers Michael Redling of Maquoketa, IA, Marvin "Bud" (Rebecca) Redling of Door County, WI, Ted (Sylvia) Redling of Arvada, CO, and Edwin (Marilyn) Wininger of Foley, AL; sisters Melissa Brown of Story City, IA, Evalyn Anderson of Rochester, MN and Pauline Lay of Keene, TX; a sister-in-law Lin Redling of Maquoketa, IA; and a special friend John Verworn of Geneseo, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gary Redling. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a Sadie Irene Dobbins memorial fund has been established.
