NOBLE LIFE IS ENDED
MRS. R. H. HOLT DIED SUDDENLY MONDAY FORENOON
FUNERAL TODAY AT 2 P.M.

Mrs. R. H. Holt, one of the noblest women of our community, passes away suddenly Monday forenoon. At 6 o’clock she took what she supposed was Epsom salts but which proved to be Flouride of Sodium. When she discovered her mistake, she took an emetic and doctors were called but she died at 11:30 o’clock.

On November 10, 1878, near Rowan in Wright County, Iowa, Margaret Christiana Andrews was born. When she was about five years old her family moved to a farm near Huron, S.D. She grew to young womanhood in this vicinity. She was the eldest in a family of nine children and to Margaret’s willing shoulders fell a goodly portion of the care of this large family. She attended high school in Huron and later was graduated from the normal department of Huron College. She also spent a year at Cumnock School of Oratory at Evanston, Illinois. For several years she taught in the vicinity of Huron, and served as matron in a dormitory at the college there.

On January 22, 1910, she was united in marriage to R. H. Holt of Clear Lake, Iowa. Of the children born to this union, one daughter, Martha and two boys, Myron and Glen died in early childhood. Those left to call her mother are Lila, Ruth, Keith and Frankie Louise. Besides the children and her husband, she leaves one brother, Will, of Grant’s Pass, Oregon, one sister, Mrs. Charles E. Miller, Huron, S.D.; and five brothers, Lester, Roy, Myron, Ned and Ralph Andrews of the same city. One brother, Fred, died in 1914. Mrs. Holt’s life was a life of devoted service to those she loved. She was unselfish to a fault. Besides the time and care spent on her family and the church she loved, she was deeply interested in 4-H club work and in the women’s club work of the county and gave untiringly of her time and service to this work.

Mrs. Holt died on November 21st, age 49 years and 11 days. The funeral will be held this afternoon at the home at 2 o’clock. The husband and children have the fullest sympathy of the community.
