She graduated from Ottumwa High school with honors in 1967. She continued her education in Fairfield, Iowa, at Parsons College, graduating with a teaching degree, with honors. She met the love of her life, Lloyd Anders, in the first month of college and they were married in September 1968.

Susan and Lloyd moved to Belmond, Iowa, where they built a wonderful life and raised their two children: David born in 1971, and Amanda born in 1975. She lived out her passion for the arts through various classes, groups, awards and friendships with local artists. She instilled a love for the arts in her grandchildren by sharing her talents with them.

She will be forever cherished and deeply missed by her husband of almost 46 years, Lloyd; son, David; daughter, Amanda Eichhorn (Kraig); and six grandchildren, Brody, Davis, Aidan, Avery, Monet and Gavin whom she loved very much. She is survived by her dear sisters, Karen Allender and Sandra Seitz (Dale); brother in-law Rick Anders (Betty); and sister in-law Cathy Bailey (Steve Mahan).
