OWATONNA, MN -- Carl George Bohnhoff, 86, of Owatonna, died on February 22, 2006. Carl was born December 5, 1919 in Pipestone, Minn. to Pastor Herman C.W. and Henrietta (Mueller) Bohnhoff. As the family of a Lutheran minister, the Bohnhoffs were called to congregations in Pipestone, St. Louis and Owatonna. Carl was baptized and confirmed in St. John's Church (today Redeemer Lutheran) by his father and graduated from Owatonna High School in 1938.

In 1940, Carl joined the U.S. Navy and served through 1944. He met Maxine June Roscoe while working at Federated Insurance, and they were married November 14, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan. Maxine was the love of his life, and they shared many wonderful times. They particularly enjoyed traveling, golfing, and spending time with their family. Carl also served as president of the Owatonna Historical Society, head of the March of Dimes, Civil Defense Director, Scoutmaster and toastmaster.

Carl retired from Federated Insurance after 45 years as underwriting manager and he and Maxine enjoyed a full retirement of traveling, gardening and enjoying their grand kids. Carl was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather and an inspiration to his entire family by instilling a strong faith in God and high moral character.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years Maxine (Roscoe) Bohnhoff and their two sons Jack Bohnhoff of Brooklyn Park, and Jim & Deb Bohnhoff of Sogn Valley, and grandchildren Chris, Jon, Mari and Erik. Carl was preceded in death by his parents Pastor Herman and Henrietta Bohnhoff and his brothers Herman Bohnhoff and William (Bun) Bohnhoff and sister Henrietta Haag.

Services will be held Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Redeemer Lutheran Church. The Reverend Kirk Griebel will be officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at church. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Arrangements are with Michaelson Funeral Home.
