Maxine June Bohnhoff, age 92, passed away peacefully on July 17, 2014 at Country Neighbors in New Richland, Minnesota. Maxine was born on June 3, 1922 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, the daughter of George and Madaline Roscoe (Schoonover). Maxine was the oldest of four daughters, sisters: Barbara, Charlotte and Margaret, the 'girls' loved to spend time together with their families and would laugh and giggle for hours. Maxine grew up with a love for horses and raced her pony at the County Fair, she graduated from Eagle Grove High School and attended business college in Des Moines, Iowa. She moved to Owatonna, Minnesota to work at Federated Insurance where she was courted by Carl Bohnhoff, fell in love and married November 14, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, where Carl was stationed in the Navy, they also lived in San Diego and Norfork, Virginia. After the war, Maxine and Carl moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa for the birth of Jack in 1945 and Jim in 1951. Maxine, Carl and boys moved to Owatonna, Minnesota in 1952 where they lived for over 50 years. Maxine and Carl enjoyed traveling throughout the US and Canada, golfing, gardening and spending time with their family and also the special times spent with her four grandchildren. Maxine loved to cook, bake, sew, read, entertain and do crossword puzzles, she was an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) tracing her roots back to the 1700's. She attended the Owatonna Women's Club, enjoyed golfing and was a member at the Owatonna Country Club. She worked as secretary at Redeemer Lutheran Church and in Josten's personnel department. Maxine and Carl were avid cribbage players, keeping track of wins and losses over the course of many years, Maxine was ahead of Carl by over 500 games.

Maxine is survived by her sons: John (Jack) of Brooklyn Park and James (Jim) of Kenyon, daughter in law: Deborah (Muri) of Kenyon, grandchildren: Chris (Johanna Schussler) of Minneapolis, Jon (Anri) of Osaka, Japan, Mari (Greg Hamel) of Linden Hills, Erik (Amanda Johnson) of Apple Valley, great grandson: Heiko of Minneapolis. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents: George and Madeline, husband: Carl, sister: Barbara, brother in laws: Lloyd Bachel and Wayne Rasmusson. A very heartfelt thanks to all the warm and loving caregivers & residents at Country Neighbors Care Center in New Richland, Minnesota. In her last years they helped keep her comfortable, well fed, happy and loved. A great comfort to her family. There will be a family memorial in Minneapolis.
