ARTHUR KEITH PASSES AWAY

Death Occurred in the Hospital at Iowa City, last Friday and burial took place in Rose Hill Cemetery Tuesday Afternoon.

Arthur Keith died at the University Hospital at Iowa City Thursday [Friday] afternoon. He had been in poor health for about a year and about six weeks ago, acting under the advice of his physician, gave up his work at Pocatello Idaho and came home for a few months rest, hoping that the change would be beneficial. He went from here to Iowa City to take treatment for his trouble and died last Friday. There had been no operation, death occurring before one could be performed. The remains were brought to Eagle Grove Saturday and the funeral services held in the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon. Rev. J. L. Whitney having charge of the services. Mr. Whitney was assisted by Rev. Jno. Limes of Ames. The K.P's B. of L.E. and B. of L.P. orders attended the funeral in a body and the pallbearers were three members of the railroad brotherhoods and three from the K.P. lodge. They were J. L. Nott, E. C. Piatt and K. K. Keith, representing the K.P.'s and S. E. Billings, Jas. Stedman and Wm. Sprau representing the railroad brotherhood. At the grave the K.P. burial service was exemplified by K. K. Keith.

Arthur Keith was born at Clinton, Iowa in December 1877, and was thirty four years, six months and one day old at the time of his death. He came to Eagle Grove with his parents in 1884 and this has been his home practically all his life except a short residence in Webster City and a few years railroading in the west. He was in the employ of the Northwestern as fireman here for a number of years and was in a number of serious accidents but was never seriously injured! He was married to Miss Mary Mickelson at Webster City December 23, 1907. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Keith, his wife and two young children and his sister, Mrs. Edith Keith Innes. The deceased was universally respected and highly esteemed by the entire community and the sympathy of all is extended the bereaved parents, wife, children and sister of deceased In this the hour of their great loss.

UNTIMELY DEATH OF ARTHUR KEITH

The sad and untimely death of Arthur Keith occurred last Friday, March 22, 1912, at the hospital at the State University at Iowa City, at
which place he was receiving treatment. His case was not considered dangerous and the community was startled upon hearing of his death. The remains were shipped to Eagle Grove and funeral services were held from the Methodist church Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in Rose Hill cemetery.

Arthur Keith was born in Clinton, Iowa, March 22, 1877. When six years of age his parents moved from Clinton to Eagle Grove. His childhood and youth was spent here and be was a student of the Eagle Grove public schools. His first work with the Northwestern railway company was night caller, after which he went to firing and continued for about three years. He then went West, to Idaho and Montana, and was an engineer.
He was married at Webster City to Miss Mary Mickelson, Dec. 23, 1907. He went West again and resumed railroad work, returning to Eagle Grove a few months ago because of poor health. Two children were born to this union, James, three years old, and Edith, three months old. He is survived also by two sisters, Mrs. Geo. Innes of Philadelphia, and Mrs. Albert Tarkington, of New Mexico. In the absence of the Methodist pastor, Rev. W. W. Boliinger, the sermon was by Rev. J. L. Whitney, of this place, assisted by Dr. J. W. Innes of Ames. The pall bearers were firemen, and the Knights of Pythias had charge at the grave. The floral contributions were elaborate and handsome.

The following relatives attended the funeral: Mrs. Geo. Innes of Philadelphia, Pa; Senator J. S. Donald and wife of Madison, Wis., Mr. and
Mrs. Fred Pierce of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and the relatives from Webster City were Mrs. M. C. Mickelson, Mrs. Ralph Cox, Miss Meta Mickelson, Mr. and Mrs. Daniels, Mrs. Leary, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, Capt. and Mrs. Lander. Three teachers, friends of Mrs. Mickelson, Miss Belle Wykoff, Mrs. Edwin Garth and Mrs. Dr. Lundell, were also here from Webster City, also Mr. and Mrs. R. R. Smith from Renwick.

Deceased was but 34 years of age, just in the prime of life, and his death is a severe blow to the family and to his friends. Arthur was a fond husband and father, a genial companion and was a friend to all who knew him. The relatives feel very grateful to their many friends who so generously assisted and sympathized with them in this sad and trying hour.
