April 22, 1913 --- July 11, 2014

LaVonne Larson Price Greene, age 101, of Manhattan, [Kansas] died Friday July 11, 2014 at the Good Shepherd Hospice House in Manhattan. She was born on April 22, 1913 in Dows, Iowa the daughter of Arthur and Florence Larson. She was a proud graduate of Coe College and spent her career as an educator. LaVonne and Everett Price were married on June 12, 1938. They were blessed with two children: Jo Ann and Ron. They enjoyed raising their family in Norton, Kansas and later moving to Manhattan, Kansas. Later in life, LaVonne was married to Ogden Greene. They had the opportunity to travel the world and take an active role in the Trinity Presbyterian Church and many local organizations.

Family gatherings and reminiscing the special moments were always a favorite. LaVonne shared her quiet strength, keen insight, loving personality, and sharp sense of humor with her family, including five grandchildren and their significant others and her four great-grandchildren. She held her friends close to her heart throughout her life. LaVonne often expressed her sincere appreciation to all her friends and loving caregivers/friends at Meadowlark Hills. Age was never a topic of conversation for LaVonne. Her focus was living each day to the fullest during her entire life.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Everett Price and Ogden Greene. LaVonne is survived by her children, Jo Ann Tweed and her husband John, of Colby, Kansas and Ron Price and his wife Barbara of Manhattan, Kansas. Also she survived by her five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will greet friends during a visitation from 4:00 until 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2014 at the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan. Graveside Services for LaVonne will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 18, 2014 at the Resthaven Cemetery in West Des Moines, Iowa. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Meadowlark Hills – Tinklin Point or to the Good Shepherd Hospice House. Memorial contributions may be left in care of the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home.
