Reuben Simpson was born on November 7, 1914 in Renwick, Iowa. His parents were the late Edward and Lucy (Martin) Simpson. Reuben met Blanche Anderson in 1937. Reuben served in the National Guard from December 27, 1938 to February 13, 1942. On February 25, 1940 Reuben was united in marriage to Blanche Anderson in Goldfield, Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with five children. Reuben and Blanche made their home in Mountain Lake, Minnesota where Reuben's parents resided and farmed. Reuben served honorably in the United States Army during World War II from February 14, 1942 to September 12, 1945 where he was a tank driver. He served under General Patton, during the Battle of the Bulge where he received a purple heart. In 1947 Reuben and Blanche moved North of Bluffton, Minnesota where they farmed. Reuben and Blanche retired from farming in 1979 and then moved into New York Mills in 1993. Reuben and Blanche loved to travel and spent 24 winters in Mercedes, Texas where they enjoyed their southern friends. Blanche passed away on July 7, 2003. Reuben enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, welding, and even cutting the neighbors hair. He was a 4H leader, active in saddle club, dancing, especially square dancing and for years selling and riding snowmobiles.

Reuben passed away on July 17, 2014 at Perham Health in Perham, Minnesota at the at 99 years of age. Preceding Reuben in death were his parents: Edward and Lucy Simpson; wife: Blanche Simpson; siblings: Marvel, Ione, Cleone, Norma, Arnold, Rex, Harold, and Edward. Reuben is survived by his daughter: Sandy (Monty Ness) Hunter of St. Cloud; 4 sons: Eddy (Pam) Simpson of Little Rock, Arkansas; Gary (Diane) Simpson of Perham; Dean (Kathy) Simpson of Perham; Lynn Simpson of New York Mills; 14 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.
