FORMER GRAND RIDGE WOMAN DIES IN IOWA
MRS. JOHN (SMITH) PETERSON, PASSES AWAY,
FINAL RITES FRIDAY

GRAND RIDGE---Mrs. John Peterson, 83, of near Eagle Grove, Iowa, died at her home there Wednesday morning following a lingering illness.
The former Mary Smith. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Smith, was born July 29, 1870, at the Smith Homestead in Grand Rapids township. She was united in marriage with John Peterson of Brookfield February 24, 1892. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Peterson, two of whom died in infancy. Surviving with the husband are Mrs. Joe (Carrie) Duitscher, Ralph, Arthur, George and Howard, all of Eagle Grove, Iowa. There are 19 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren. The following sisters also survive: Mrs. George (Rosena) Schobert, Mrs. L. C. (Minnie) Rinker of Grand Ridge, Mrs. Edward (Matilda) Scheerer of Ft. Dodge, Iowa and Mrs. Taylor (Millie) Bute of Wahpeton, N.D. Two sisters, Mrs. Herman (Emma) Scheerer of Iowa and Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Scheerer of Grand Ridge, preceded her in death.

The Peterson farmed in Brookfield before moving to Iowa about 50 years ago. Funeral rites will be held Friday afternoon from the Methodist church in Goldfield, Iowa. Attending from here were Mrs. L. C. Rinker, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peterson, who are already in Eagle Grove, having been summoned there about two weeks ago by the serious condition of Mrs. Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hayward and Mrs. Arthur Walter also plan to attend. Burial will be in Eagle Grove.

MRS. J.C. PETERSON, HOLMES IS BURIED

HOLMES -- Funeral services for Mrs. J. C. Peterson, 81, who died early Wednesday morning at her home a mile south of town, were held Friday afternoon at the Goldfield Methodist church with the Rev. Frank C. Greene officiating. Burial was in the Clarion cemetery. The pallbearers were grandsons: Delmar Duitscher, Joel Duitscher, Ray Duitscher, Duane Peterson, Jack Peterson, Loren Peterson, J. Richard Peterson and Frank Peterson. Soloist was Leonard Madison who sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "God Will Take Care of You," accompanied by organist Mrs. Glenn Braden of Goldfield, Mrs. Alfred Wheeler and Mrs. Ray Snyder assisted with the flowers at the church.

Mary Christina was born to Anton and Louise Smith, July 29, 1870, near Grand Ridge, Ill., where she attended school. At an early age she joined the German Methodist church, from which church she transferred her membership to the membership to the Methodist church in Goldfield, being received on Sept. 27, 1902, during the pastorate of Rev. J. J. Gardner.
