Moline, Illinois -- Carl V. Christenson Jr., 84, of Moline, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be 2 pm Saturday at Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home, 201 E. 4th Ave., Milan. Visitation will be an hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at a later date in Britt, Iowa next to his grandparents. Memorials may be made in care of Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House.

Carl started life in Kanawha, Iowa on October 9, 1929, a son of Carl V. Sr. and Marie J. Christensen Christenson, where he was raised a farm boy. He married LaVera J. Williams on November 6, 1948 and moved to Des Moines, Iowa where he started his family. He had six boys and two girls. For 20 years, Carl and his family moved around Iowa where he worked as a salesman. He lived in the Quad Cities for 44 years where he was a Kirby Distributor and floral delivery driver for Hy-Vee. He truly loved delivering flowers. Carl enjoyed gardening and sales shopping.

Survivors include; his children (and spouses), William K. Christenson, St. Petersburg, Fla., Todd J. (Barbara) Christenson, Davenport, Cary V. Christenson, St. Petersburg, Fla., Paul E. (Joy) Christenson, San Diego, Calif., and Tracy M. Christenson-Nutt, Cord R. Christenson and Carolyn E. (Jon Calahan) Fitzgerald, all of Des Moines, Iowa; twelve grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters, Rhonda (Eugene) Berhow and Ramona (Dave) Kabrick, both of Britt, Iowa; and brothers, Randy (Ramona) Wright, Britt, Iowa and James Christenson, Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Scott E. Christenson, sister, Carla Christenson-Bierman and mother of his children, LaVera Jean Williams.
