Barbara Jane (Britt) Stevenson was born on August 2, 1925, in Renwick, Iowa, the daughter of Fritz and Mary (Stauffacher) Britt. Barbara Jane graduated from Renwick High School and then attended A.I.B. in Des Moines until she started working at Central National Bank. On April 7, 1946, Barbara Jane was united in marriage with John S. Stevenson in Renwick. They farmed in the Hardy and then Goldfield area until retirement. Barbara Jane also worked in the Goldfield State Bank/Security Savings Bank for many years, ending an enjoyable and successful career as a Vice President. Barb was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield – serving on numerous committees. She was honored to be a 50 year member of the Alpha Delphian Club, belonged to Sew Sew Club, Legion Auxiliary, Oakridge, Hardy Red Hatters, Goldfield Red Hats and Congregate Meals. John and Barbara enjoyed many bus trips and in later years, Jackie and Dee joined her. Barbara enjoyed socializing at the Cheese Mart and it truly did become her "home away from home"! Barbara Jane was a true sports fan, always ready for some football and to cheer on her beloved Hawkeyes!

Barbara died on Sunday, June 22, 2014, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 88 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband John on April 16, 1988. She is survived by her daughter, Jackie Reichter and husband Dean of Goldfield; granddaughter, Dee Kain and husband Brad of Johnston and great triplet grandsons: Austin, Travis and Justin Kain of Johnston.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 25, 2014, 2:00 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 to 7 pm at the Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield. Burial in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
