Boy, 14, is Hanged Accidentally in Bin
THOR, IA — Funeral arrangements were pending Sunday for Eugene Stueland, 14, who was found hanged to death in a bin used to store shelled corn on his father's farm three miles south of this Humboldt County town. Leonard Stueland, the boy's father, found the body shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday. Humboldt County Medical Examiner Dr. James Coddington said Eugene died of strangulation and placed the time of death at about 5 p.m. Sheriff E. H. Bradley said he found no evidence to indicate that the death was anything other than accidental. He said the rope had been hanging from rafters in the bin where it had been used in storing corn since last fall. Eugene was the oldest of eight Stueland children and an eighth grade student at Eagle Grove Junior High School.
