Shirley Krieger, 84, Woolstock

Shirley Joan (Spangler) Krieger, the daughter of Marvin J. and Emma V. (Sanders) Spangler, was born July 14, 1929, in Eagle Grove. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth. On June 16, 1946, Shirley was united in marriage with Loren Krieger at the Lutheran Parsonage in Eagle Grove. The couple made their home and raised their family on the family farm in Woolstock. Shirley helped Loren farm, raise cattle, pigs and chickens, and worked at NEODATA for 10 years. Loren preceded her in death on January 14, 2013. Shirley also enjoyed flowers, gardening, cooking, family gatherings and loved to hold the babies!

Shirley passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City, at the age of 84 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Barbara; granddaughter, Ashlee Krieger; sister, Mary Spangler; an infant brother, Clarence and four brothers: Edward, Dale (Arlene), Bruce (Jane) and Ronnie Spangler. Survivors include seven children: Dennis Krieger and wife Marge of Blairsburg, Linda Nelson of Goldfield, Sheryl Buhr and husband Dallas of Eagle Grove, Lorena Reed and husband Rich of Woolstock, David Krieger and wife Cathy of Decorah, Darwin Krieger and wife Angie of Webster City and Patricia Krieger and significant other Ed Lenning of Clarion; 16 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Dick Spangler of Indianola; sisters-in-law, Donna Spangler of Sonoma, CA and Dolores Spangler of Clarion; aunt, Evelyn Gearhart and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 5, 2014, 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Mike Agnew officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in French Church Cemetery in Woolstock. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
