November 10, 1920 --- May 26, 2014

EAGLE GROVE - Geraldine "Gerri" Dupree of Eagle Grove, formerly of Hobbs, NM, passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 93 years. Survivors include her children, Reba (Dr. Michael) Moffitt of Eagle Grove, IA and Dode (Chris) Forrester of Battleground, WA; four grandchildren: Taylor (Angila), Dr. Zachary (Liz) and Jordan (Nicole) Moffitt and Nicholas Forrester; great-grandchildren: Adelie, Estella, Deirdre, Dolidh, Georgiana, Ewan Meredith, Max, Benjamin Clara, Josephine, Reba and Caedmon Moffitt; sister-in-law, Mary Witcher Maudlin of Midland, TX and nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2040, 11:00 a.m. at the Grace Evangelical Free Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor John Nett officiating, with visitation one hour prior to service time. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Geraldine Avis (Witcher) Dupree, the daughter of Benjamin DeWitt and Reba Jo (Boyles) Witcher, was born November 10, 1920, in Hobart, Oklahoma. She was raised and educated in Rocky, OK, Quitaque, TX and in 1930 moved to Lovington, NM and graduated from Lovington High School in 1938.

In 1942, Gerri married Everett E. (Dode) Forrester, while he was serving in Unites States Army. After W.W. II, the couple moved to Roswell, NM and in 1948 they moved to Hobbs, NM where they raised their two children, Reba and Dodie. Dode preceded her in death in 1971. Gerri served several years as a full-time volunteer for the American Cancer Society and also earned her realtors license and sold real estate for a few years. In 1976, Gerri married Bryan Dupree and the couple continued to make their home in Hobbs, before moving to Eagle Grove, Iowa in 2004. Bryan preceded her in death on August 9, 2010.

Gerri was well known in Eastern New Mexico/West Texas for her China Painting and was a member of several Porcelain Arts Clubs. She painted and taught for many years and in the last few years had the pleasure of painting with her great-granddaughters. Gerri, affectionately called "Granner', was a beautiful, gracious lady who loved her life especially her family of whom she was so very proud and will greatly miss her and remember many happy times at her mountain home in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Gerri passed away on Monday, May 26, 2014, at the Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 93 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother, Marvin DeWitt Witcher; sister, Mary Joyce Laflin and her husband George; niece, Lou Ann DuVall and nephew, Gary Laflin. Survivors include her children, Reba (Dr. Michael) Moffitt of Eagle Grove, IA and Dode (Chris) Forrester of Battleground, WA; four grandchildren: Taylor (Angila), Dr. Zachary (Liz) and Jordan (Nicole) Moffitt and Nicholas Forrester; great-grandchildren: Adelie, Estella, Deirdre, Dolidh, Georgiana, Ewan – Meredith, Max, Benjamin – Clara, Josephine, Reba and Caedmon Moffitt; sister-in-law, Mary Witcher Maudlin of Midland, TX and nieces and nephews.
