Eagle Grove, Iowa -- Age 94

George Edward Loux, the son of Charles and Josephine V. (Hilpipre) Loux, was born November 6, 1919, in Woolstock, Iowa. In 1929, the family moved to a farm east of Eagle Grove where George was raised and educated, graduating from Eagle Grove High School in 1937. George served in the United States Navy during W.W. II, stationed in Tokyo, from June 7, 1942 until his honorable discharge on December 15, 1945. He was a member of the Avenger Squad – an attack on Japan six months after the bombing of Pearl Harbor.

On June 8, 1952, George was united in marriage with Hildegard Fredericka Breitenkamp in Breckenridge, Oklahoma. The couple made their home on George's family farm where they raised their two sons, Michael and Kevin. Hildegard preceded George in death on April 3, 1981. George retired from farming in the early 90's and later moved into Eagle Grove.

George was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Woolstock, Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, V.F.W. and LST Association. He enjoyed playing all kinds of card games and crossword puzzles.

George passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the age of 94 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents. George is survived by his sons, Michael Loux and wife Lorraine of Eagle Grove and Kevin Loux and wife Belinda of Center Point; five grandchildren: Stacy Craven (Jeff), Brandy Loux (Vince Benson), Amanda Reeder (John), Adam Loux (Alina) and Kyle Loux; 5 great-grandchildren: Jenny, Joseph, Jacob and Ben Craven and Mabel Reeder and brother, Raymond Loux.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 24, 2014, at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove Pastor Mark Peterson officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in French Church Cemetery, Woolstock. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
