Cecil J. Filer, 74, Dies At Waterloo Of Heart Attack

Cecil J. Filer, 74, retired Rock Island depot agent who served at Wellsburg for 28 years, died suddenly Sunday morning at his home in Waterloo of a heart attack. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. this Wednesday in Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Waterloo. A graveside service burial was held at 2:30 p.m. at the Shiloh cemetery in Wellsburg. He became ill Sunday morning while getting ready to attend church. An inhalator squad was called to give him first aid, and he was taken to Allen Memorial Hospital, but died a few minutes after his arrival. Mr. Filer retired in 1952 as Rock Island agent after serving here 28 years. The couple then moved to Waterloo where they resided at the time of his death. Survivors include his wife and three children, Mrs. Doris M. Brown of St. Louis, Mo., Mrs. Walter Zech and Mrs. Art Miller, both of Aplington. Also 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and one foster sister, Mrs. Julia Comstock of Hoopeston, Ill.
