Ernest Johnson, 81, 460 55th St. N. St. Petersburg died Friday, July 9, 1971. Mr. Johnson was a foreman with the Illinois Central Railroad.
He was born in Waterloo, Iowa and came to St. Petersburg one year ago from Waterloo. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn Housley; one son, Raymond of Waterloo; and one daughter, Gwen Backerman, also of Waterloo. Funeral arrangements are pending at the Dahl-Van-Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls for Ernest L. Johnson, 81, of St. Petersburg, Fla., former resident of Waterloo and Cedar Falls, who died at 5:30 p.m. Friday at a St. Petersburg hospital of a heart attack. He was born in Glenville, Minn. Later he resided in Cedar Falls and subsequently moved to Waterloo. While here he was employed as foreman for the Illinois Central Railroad. He retired 21 years ago and moved to Clarion and had gone to Florida about a year ago. The body will be brought to the Dahl-Van-Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, Cedar Falls. Burial will be in Cedar Falls. Surviving are his wife, Kathryn of St. Petersburg; one son, Raymond Johnson of Woodland Terace trailer court, 1864 Independence Ave., one daughter, Mrs. Harold Backerman of 417 Drynan Drive, and a number of grandchildren and great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary, and by two sons.
