Phyllis M. Roelofsen, age 78, of Belmond passed away Tuesday April 15, 2014 at Good Samaritans in Algona. Memorial services for Phyllis M. Roelofsen will be held at 1:30 P.M. Saturday April 19, 2014 at Dugger Funeral Home, 111 Luick's Lane South in Belmond. Pastor Cindy Morrison will officiate. Friends may call on the family from 12:00 – service time on Saturday. Friends and relatives are invited to stay for a small lunch and coffee following the memorial service in the funeral home.

Phyllis Marie, the daughter of Alfred and Helen Howard Butcher was born August 6, 1935 in Onawa, Iowa. Phyllis was raised one in a family of eight brothers and sisters. She grew up in the Onawa area where she attended school. hyllis was united in marriage to Francis Gilbert Richards. Francis was a career military man, so the couple raised their family on bases around the country. Phyllis and Francis settled to Baldwin Park, CA, upon Francis’ retirement from the Air Force. After Francis’ death, Phyllis returned to Iowa. She met and married Vincent Roelofsen of Meservey. They couple made their home in the Meservey and Belmond communities. Phyllis worked for Carol Johnson in Meservey, making porcelain dolls. An artistic nature, Phyllis excelled at doll making and embroidery. Following Vincent’s death, Phyllis met Jerry Moore. The couple made their home in Moorehead, Iowa for two decades. Phyllis is remembered as a mother and grandmother, who loved her children and grandchildren dearly. She is remembered fondly for cooking and baking. Phyllis secret for baked beans and potato salad will never be matched.

Phyllis is suvived by her daughters, Ann Harty of Belmond, Nancy Johnson and husband, Gary of Kanawha, significant other, Jerry Moore of Moorehead, four grandchildren, Tommy Montellano, Ron Rice (Somchai), Eugene Harty, Lawona Hauert, nine great grandchildren, Dawson, Kassie, Ryan, Berlin, Harmony, Yazmine, Bella, Simon, Gavin, a sister, Verla “Tootie” Collison, of Arizona, a brother, Dutch Butcher of Utah, and numerous other friends and relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Francis, husband, Vincent, son, Tom, and five brothers and sisters. DUGGER FUNERAL HOME - Belmond, Iowa
