Joseph Iner Halverson, the son of John and Inga (Twedt) Halverson, was born December 15, 1925, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth – "Eagle Grove Class of 1944". Joe entered the United States Marine Corp, serving in the Pacific Theatre during W.W.II and was honorably discharged in the summer of 1946. He was a very proud Marine and kept in touch with his four close buddies until the last one recently died. Joe was united in marriage to JoAnn Stensland on October 23, 1949. Joe was a Farm Drainage Contractor for 30 years and served as a Wright County Supervisor for 24 years. Joe was a lifelong member of Evangelical Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Isaac Walton League and NRA.

Joe passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, Iowa at the age of 88 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger; sisters, Hilda and Olga; son-in-law, Steve Cohen and three brothers-in-law. Survivors include his wife, JoAnn of Eagle Grove; three children: Barbara Cohen (Mark See) of Nevada, Joel Halverson (Gwen) and Suzy Partridge (Dave) of Ankeny; grandchildren: Beth Wright (Jerry) of New Bern, NC, Jesse Cohen (Imelda) of Abu Dhabi, Britt Cohen of Ames, Jessica Halverson of Boise, ID, Nick Partridge of Omaha, NE and Travis Partridge of Ankeny; four great-grandchildren: Quincy, Amaya, Jerry and Soraya; sister, Irene Olson (Vince) of Eagle Grove; brothers, Carl Halverson (Dee) and Don Halverson (Doryce) of Eagle Grove; sisters-in-law, Addie Halverson of Eden Prairie, MN, Del Sandvig of Humboldt and Gloria Stensland of Thor and brother-in-law, Darryl Stensland (Joan) of Thor.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Foust Funeral Home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
