Lillian (Riden) Henderson passed away April 5, 2014, in Eugene. She was born Sept. 2, 1917, in Dows, Iowa, to Solomon Riden (Beirut) and Mary Gall Riden (Allowa, Scotland). Formerly of Portland, she resided in Eugene since 2011. A graduate of Open Bible College, Des Moines, Iowa, Lillian spent 67 years in the ministry as co-pastor of Open Bible churches. She married Rev. Gil Henderson Nov. 30, 1945, in Fairburn, S.D. At the time of her husband's death in 2005, they had concluded their long pastoral career by serving as pastors of Calvary Open Bible Church in Portland. Lillian is survived by children, Sheryl Pendleton (Richard) of Eugene, Dr. Steve Henderson (Gayla) of Springdale, Ark., and Janette Barker (Kenneth) of Salem; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Sonya Ferguson of Wichita, Kan., and Ethel Orrill of Calhoun, Ga;, and brother, Joseph Riden of La Grange, Ill. She was preceded in death by her brother, Glen Riden; and sister, Ruth Thompson. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014, at the Portland Open Bible Church, 3225 S.E. 92nd Ave. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor for scholarships to New Hope Christian College, 2155 Bailey Hill Road, Eugene, OR 97405.
