December 7, 1886 --- September 5, 1939

Stephie Alexander Davis, son of Stephen and Agnes Davis, was born in Webster County near Clare, Iowa, Dec. 7, 1886, and died Sept. 5, 1939 at his home on highway No. 169 south of Humboldt. On March 17, 1908, he was united in marriage to Mattie M. Johnson. Mr. Davis spent his life on the farm and was interested in community work. For some 20 years sickness kept him from his work. He was a good neighbor and he had many friends. The first daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Davis, Margaret, passed away in infancy. Besides his devoted wife he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Fay Werling, Humboldt; Mrs. Gladys Prehm, Eagle Grove; Virginia, at home; three sons, Wayne and Valley of Rowan, Iowa, and Richard, at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Davis; two grandchildren, Delores Prehm and Lavonne Grace Davis. He is also survived by two brothers, Frank and William Davis of Humboldt; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Jones, Auburn, Wash.; Mrs. Tilda Baldwin and Mrs. Eva Baldwin of Humboldt, and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday in Humboldt with burial in North Lawn cemetery at Fort Dodge.
