George H. Nolte, 97 died Friday, March 28, 2014 at the Adams Health Care Center, Adams, MN. George Henry Nolte was born September 1, 1916 at Goodell, Iowa, the son of Henry and Veda (Christie) Nolte. He attended school and worked at a number of jobs. In December of 1940 he was married to Avene Hull at Des Moines, Iowa. They moved to Kanawha, Iowa and farmed. George spent three and a half years in the US Army during WWII. In 1950 the Nolte’s moved to a 160 acre farm near Adams, MN. George farmed the land and worked at a number of different jobs. They sold the farm and moved to a house they built in Adams. George retired and they sold the house and moved to the Cedar Court Apartments in Adams. George was a member of the Marshall Lutheran Church and Adams Post #146 American Legion, where he was a member of the Funeral Escort and worked the chicken fry’s. He enjoyed reading and watching television. George was preceded in death by his parents, siblings Alverta Petersen, Bernard Nolte, and Alvin Nolte. He is survived by his wife, Avene Nolte, Adams, MN, many nieces and nephews

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the Marshall Lutheran Church with Pastor Jeremy Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Marshall Lutheran Cemetery with Adams Post #146 in charge of military rites. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:00 noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to the Marshall Lutheran Church or to Adams Post #146 American Legion. Adams Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
