Viola F. (Jones) Adams, the daughter of Robert M. and Pearl G. (Black) Jones, was born December 5, 1926, in Plum Creek Township (Kossuth County, Iowa) near Sexton. She was raised and educated in Bancroft. On August 28, 1944, Viola was united in marriage with James D. Adams at the Methodist Church in Algona, Iowa and to this union five children were born. They lived in Algona, Bancroft and Mason City before moving to Eagle Grove in 1956. Viola worked at the Alibi for 20 years as a cook and bartender. Viola was a member of the Baptist Church in Bancroft and Park Church Of Christ in Goldfield. Her hobbies included listening to Elvis Presley and country music, dancing, playing bingo and watching Nascar Races – or shall we say she loved Dale Earnhardt, Jr.!

Viola passed on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion, at the age of 87 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James on June 19, 2003; grandsons, Martin Noel Miller in 1973 and Timothy Lee Miller in 2008; daughter-in-law, Betty Adams in 2001 and brother, Robert Jones in 2010. Survivors include her five children: Marie Reed and husband Gordon of Springbrook, Duane Adams and wife Carolyn of Clarion, Judy Asche and husband Robert of Eagle Grove, Thomas Adams and wife Barb of Sioux Rapids and Stephen Adams and wife Vicky of Goldfield; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 8 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Robert Dishman officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
