GOLDFIELD, IA - John "Roger" Anderson, age 80, of Goldfield, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Mass of the Resurrection will be held Tuesday, March 25th at 11:00 AM with Father Jim Tigges officiating at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Humboldt. Burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in St. Joe. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM-7:00 PM Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church with a 4:30 PM Rosary.

Roger was born on September 28, 1933 in Thor, Iowa to Andrew and Christine (Johnson) Anderson. He attend Goldfield Country Schools and graduated from Goldfield High School in 1952. Roger then attended Barber College for one year. On April 28, 1962, Roger was united in marriage to Alma Illg at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in St. Joe, Iowa. After the couple married they lived in Storm Lake for one year where Roger worked as a Barber. The couple then moved to a farm near Goldfield in March 1963 and continued to live there until they moved into Goldfield on November 18, 2012. Roger was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He loved to play cards and spend time with his "favorite" grandson, Logan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Alton Anderson; a sister Marilyn Tokheim; a brother Leland Anderson and three nephews. Roger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alma; two sons: Michael (Kristi) Anderson of Renwick and Matthew Anderson of Hardy; his favorite grandson, Logan of Renwick; a sister, Janice Breckler of Peoria, Arizona and many other numerous relatives and friends. Ubben-Lentz Funeral Home of Humboldt is assisting the family.
