Harold Hintch, 91, of Fort Dodge and Gowrie, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, March 20, 2014 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel with Rev. James Davis of Gowrie officiating. Burial will be in the North Lawn Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Fort Dodge.

Harold is survived by his four children, Connie (Tim) Trusty of Badger, Vicki (Darrel) Mischke of Gowrie, Mark (Marsha) Hintch of Fort Dodge, and Pam Scharf of Fort Dodge; 12 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Scott Hintch in 2000 and his wife, Betty in 2007; a grandson-in-law, Ron Harrison, a brother Donald and an infant sister.

Harold Robert Hintch, the son of Robert and Marie (Rude) Hintch, was born June 14, 1922 in Fort Dodge. Harold attended country school near Vincent, middle school in Eagle Grove and later graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High. On August 19, 1945, Harold married Betty Payne in Fort Dodge and after their marriage the couple made Fort Dodge their home. Harold worked for S&H Green Stamps for 30 years before retiring. Betty and Harold enjoyed traveling in their motor home. They enjoyed their summers at their cabin in Okoboji and their winters at their cabin in Florida. Their son Scott passed away on February 27, 2000. Harold was a devoted husband and care giver to his wife. Betty entered the Gowrie Care Center in 2001 and Harold moved to Gowrie shortly afterwards so he could take care of his lovely wife. Betty passed away on January 29, 2007. Harold continued to live in Gowrie after his wife's death and for about the past five years Harold was a resident of the Gowrie Care Center. Harold was a past president of the Fort Dodge chapter of the Izaak Walton League. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
