EVANSDALE, Iowa -- Violet E. Hinz, 79, of Evansdale, died Friday, Jan. 10, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of natural causes. She was born Feb. 18, 1934, in Alden, daughter of Lorenz and Elsa Ratzke Klaffke. She married LaVerne R. Hinz on May 28, 1955, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua; he died April 3, 1995. Mrs. Hinz worked as a clerk at the State of Iowa Liquor Store for 15 years, retiring in 1985.

Survived by: three sons, Robert (Sheryl) and Roger (Kim), both of Waterloo, and Richard “Herman” (Christie) of Cedar Falls; a daughter, Carol (Rodney) Robert of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Velma Booles of Minneapolis and Vernita White of Ankeny. Preceded in death by: her parents; and a sister, Verna Evans

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery, both in Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today and an hour before services Tuesday at the chapel. Memorials: may be directed to Violet’s family.
