March 13, 1917 --- April 14, 2008

WATERLOO - Kathleen Kluver, 91, of Waterloo, died Monday, April 14, at Friendship Village Retirement Center of natural causes. She was born March 13, 1917, in Holland, daughter of Peter and Kate Freese Meyer. She married Harold T. Kluver on April 4, 1942. He died May 8, 1961. Mrs. Kluver graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) with a bachelor's degree in English and as a media specialist. She worked for the Waterloo Community School District as a media specialist at Bunger Junior High and Kittrell Elementary, where she read every book before it went on the shelf for the kids, retiring in 1982. She was a member of First Baptist Church involved in the Star Circle.

Survived by: a daughter, Susan (Steven) Harty of Waterloo; and five grandchildren, including granddaughters Carissa (Grant) Bacich of West Des Moines and Anne Harty of Des Moines. Preceded in death by: a son, Stanley Kluver; brothers and a sister.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church of Waterloo, preceded by family burial in Holland Cemetery, Holland. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home. Memorials: may be directed to the church. Kathleen was a master at Duplicate Bridge and earned many master points and also enjoyed sewing and liked to quilt every Tuesday.
