George C. Lunn, 81, 6 N. 9th St., Clear Lake, died Sunday evening at a Mason City hospital following an illness. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Zion Lutheran Church with Pastor Murley Severtson officiating. Burial was in the Clear Lake Cemetery with Ward-Van Slyke Funeral Home in charge.
George Christian Lunn was born Dec 19, 1892 near Klemme, the son of Charles and Frances Lunn. He received a rural school education and farmed with his parents until WW I, serving with the U.S. Army for 21 months, spending 15 months in France and Germany. He was married to Alma Osnes on Dec. 23, 1923 at Clear Lake. They farmed for 6 years north of Ventura, moving to the home farm north of Clear Lake in 1930. In 1951 Mr. and Mrs. Lunn and their son George J., operated the dairy farm with them until Mr. Lunn retired in 1970.
He is survived by his wife, Alma, one daughter, Mrs. Wilfer (Lois) Anderson, Forest City; and a son George J. Lunn, of Clear Lake; seven grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Sarah Haes, Garner; a brother, Ralph Lunn of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by a grandson, two brothers and three sisters. He was a member of WW I Barracks and the American Legion.
Honorary pallbearers were his grandchildren, Douglas Porter, Jeffrey Porter, Janelle Porter, Tim Lunn, Rick Lunn, Jerry Lunn and Kathleen Lunn. Active pallbearers were Willard Scott, Joe Johnson, Gaylon Haes, Stanley Pederson, Neil Merton, Alvin Halverson, Ed Meiners and Lester Bisgrove.
