LIVERMORE, IA - Geneva Martin, 100, of Livermore, passed away January 24, 2014 at the Humboldt Care Center South. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Faith United Methodist Church in Livermore. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Livermore. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt.

Mrs. Martin is survived by her six daughters, Betty Engelby of Winnebago, MN, Beverly (Don) Duarte of Hot Springs, SD, Mary (Richard) Sorenson of Renwick, Janet Landolt of Gilmore City, Judy Hamburger of Fort Dodge, and Linda (LeRoy) Kaufman of Gilmore City; her sister, Edith Stone of Miami, FL; 18 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; and several Great-Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jess Martin; an infant son; granddaughters, Kathy Sorenson and Sheryl Hamburger; 6 brothers; and 3 sisters.

Geneva Fox, the daughter of John and Anna (Ludvicek) Fox, was born April 25, 1913 at Elberon, Iowa. Her father's work on the railroad took the family to Goldfield then Livermore when Geneva was a child. She received her education at Livermore and on November 7, 1931, was united in marriage to Jess Martin at Omaha. The couple made their home at West Bend before moving to Livermore where the couple was employed by the Livermore School. Geneva worked hard as a homemaker raising her six daughters, and cooking, and cleaning chickens and pheasants for area farmers. Mr. Martin died in 1967 in the line of duty as a volunteer fireman in Livermore. Geneva continued to maintain her home until becoming a resident of the Humboldt Care Center South in January of 2005.

Mrs. Martin was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church in Livermore. She enjoyed tending to her large vegetable, peanut, and flower gardens, sewing, and embroidery. She loved to play with her grandchildren and made beautiful braided rugs and quilts.
